Aikido Program
The Way of Harmony of the Spirit for Adults and Teens.
Aikido is a Japaneses Martial Art developed by 'O Sensei' Morihei Ueshiba and taught at Olymp Academy by Mr. Rafael V. Aikido does not focus on punching or kicking opponents. Rather, students focus on using their own energy to gain control of the situation or to throw opponents away from them.
It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of body movement. On a purely physical level it is an art involving some throws and joint locks that are derived from Jujitsu and some throws and other techniques derived from Kenjutsu.
Upon closer examination, students will find from Aikido what they are looking for, whether it is spiritual enlightenment, physical health or self-defense techniques. We could attempt to pin point the meaning of Aikido with words, but that would not do it justice, so Karate American leaves you to find out what Aikido is for yourself without any preconceived notions. You are welcome to come watch or take part in a class with Mr. Peck to understand the depth of Aikido.
